Carpenter, Laura Weaver Wagner, 90, formerly of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital. She resided at Pleasant View Retirement Community. She was the daughter of the late Aaron & Lydia (Martin) Weaver. She is survived by her husband, Stanley Carpenter with whom she celebrated 21 years of marriage last October. Her first husband, Paul Wagner, died in 1994. They had been married for 46 years.
Laura was a homemaker for many years on the family farm in Washington Boro. She also worked at Donegal Industries as a seamstress for over 25 years. Laura enjoyed spending time with Stanley at their second home in McAlisterville. She enjoyed knitting hats, camping and spending annual winters in Sarasota, FL. She volunteered for many years at the Country Gift & Thrift in Mount Joy. She was a member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church and had previously attended Chestnut Hill Mennonite Church for many years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her two sons: J. Lester Wagner (Cheryl) of Ephrata and Palm Desert (CA) and J. Mark Wagner (Leone) of Lititz. Laura is survived by 5 grandchildren: Lyndell (Bruce) Thiessen of Akron; Angela (Ben) Moita of Bloomington, MN; Kyle (Amy) Wagner of Lititz; Erin (Adam) Gingerich of Woodburn, OR; and Andrew (Alie) Wagner of Manheim, as well as 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 stepchildren: John (Mary) Carpenter of Landisville; Joyce (Ken) Frey of Mount Joy; Mary Jane (Bill) Sensenig of Stevens, Jay (Ruth) Carpenter of Lancaster; and James (Arlene) Carpenter of Lancaster, as well as 13 step-grandchildren and 26 step-great-grandchildren.
Laura is survived by one brother, Paul M. Weaver, Lititz and four sisters, Mabel (Ephraim) Hernley, Ephrata; Miriam Nauman, Homestead, FL; Esther Nissley, Mifflinburg; and Reba (John) Wissler, Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a brother Harlan Weaver and a sister Anna Keperling.
A Funeral Service honoring Laura's life will be held at Pleasant View Retirement Community Hoffer Auditorium, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends will be received at Hoffer Auditorium from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. Interment will be private.

Charles, Arlene K., 87, of Fairmont Homes, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving nieces and nephews and went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2017 following a brief illness. She was born in Washington Boro to the late Christian B. and Edna C. Charles and was a lifelong resident of this area.
Arlene served for many years as an aide at Landis Homes and Mennonite Home before retiring and would then volunteer at the Columbia Re Uzit Shop. She was known to be very hospitable and enjoyed cooking for guests that would visit. Arlene was a longtime member of Blue Rock Mennonite Church.
Arlene leaves behind a brother, Paul, husband of Fannie Charles of Mountville; three nephews, Paul, David, and Carl Charles; six nieces, Lois Blake, Ellen Aronson, Miriam Hubbard, Dorothy Webster, Mary Radesky, Nancy Rexroad.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Mervin Charles, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Charles.
Services for Arlene will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Blue Rock Mennonite Church, 3457 Blue Rock Rd., Lancaster, PA 17603. Burial will follow at Habecker Mennonite Cemetery. SHIPSHEWANA - Fanny Christner, 98, of Shipshewana, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017.
She was born Dec. 25, 1918, to Sam A. and Edna (Yoder) Schlabach.
She married Christian Christner; he died Sept. 1, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Edna (Daniel) Hochstetler and Mary (Ferman) Miller; two sons, Amos (Fannie) and William “Willy” (Esther) Christner; 13 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; sisters Emma Hochstetler, Lizzie Bender, Edna Mast, Mattie Mullet and Katie Fry; and brother Ervin Schlabach.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one great-grandson; and three sisters.
Visitation will be all day Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Arlin Lambright residence, 510 W. Middlebury St., Shipshewana.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 3. also at the Arlin Lambright residence.
Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.

GOSHEN - Charlene Christophel, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born Sept. 29, 1924 in Middlebury to Noble and Edna (Kauffman) Showalter.
On Nov. 1, 1947 she married Theron Christophel at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, Goshen. He died Aug. 1, 2001.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Buss, Pepperell, Massachusetts, Shirley “Crik” (Steve Zoller) Christophel, Mount Morris, New York, and Ronda (Chris) Miller, Newport News, Virginia; a son, Roger Christophel, South Bend; five grandchildren, Jesse (Jenn) Buss, Christopher (Jessica) Buss, Briana Buss, Sarah (Billy) Lemon, and Emily (Kendall) Wenger; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Deal, Goshen; and two brothers, Glen (RoseAnne) Showalter, Millersburg, and Dale (Sherry) Showalter, Goshen.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jay, Stahley, and Gerald Showalter; and a sister, Vesta Stroman.
Charlene graduated from Millersburg High School and attended Goshen College.
She was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church and was a longtime waitress at the former Plain & Fancy Restaurant.
Friends and family may gather at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 at Yellow Creek Cemetery, 64901 C. R. 11, Goshen, for a graveside service prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service at Waterford Mennonite Church, 65975 State Road 15, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Bethany Christian Schools or Waterford Mennonite Church.

Christophel, Charlene Showalter, 93, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died December 9, 2017 at the same place. She was born September 29, 1924 at Middlebury, Elkhart Co., IN to Noble and Edna (Kauffman) Showalter. On November 1, 1947 at Goshen she was married to Theron Christophel, who was born October 14, 1918 and died July 31, 2001.

Christophel, Stephen Jay
March 25, 1955 - Feb. 4, 2017
GOSHEN - Stephen Jay Christophel, 61, died at Greencroft Healthcare, Goshen, on Sat., Feb. 4, after a 19-month battle with cancer.
He was born March 25, 1955, in Goshen, to James and Mary (Martin) Christophel of Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Michael Christophel of Flowery Branch, Ga., Mark (Kathy) Christophel of McKinney, Texas; a sister, Susan Miller-Barrows of Augusta, Maine; five nieces and one nephew.
Stephen graduated from Goshen College and earned additional hours of credit from IU Bloomington. He spent a year in China teaching English.
During the last 20 plus years of his life Stephen worked at NIBCO in Goshen. He was often an easy touch for fellow workers who needed to borrow some money before payday.
Stephen’s last year at NIBCO was spent being trained as an electrician.
He attended Faith Mennonite Church in Goshen. He loved to play games. Stephen attended several singles groups and Bible study groups in the area.
He had an interest in promoting the church’s Hospitality House. He was given compassionate care by the doctors, nurses, and staff of Goshen Hospital Cancer Center and by the staff of Goshen Hospice.
The pastors and members of Faith Mennonite Church have given Stephen exceptional support over the years and especially during his struggle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Fri., Feb. 10, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St. in Goshen and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service, Sat., Feb. 11, at Faith Mennonite Church, 1201 S. 11th St. in Goshen.
Pastor Kay Bontrager Singer of Faith Mennonite Church will officiate.
There will be a private family burial at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Cook, Carolyn June Showalter, 71, a resident of Grottoes, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Cook was born June 9, 1945, in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Jacob Daniel and Mazie Mabel Wilkins Showalter.
She was a homemaker who loved to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
On Sept. 1, 1974, she married Jerry Cook, who survives.
Also surviving are her children, Christina Cook of Grottoes, Candice Shull and husband, Mike, Shawn Cook and wife, Jennifer, all of Verona; a brother, Ralph Showalter and wife, Joyce, of Broadway; six grandchildren, Blake Lear, Nate Gunnell, Hannah Cook, Sarah Cook, Ethan Cook and Emily Shull; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pastor John Lock will conduct a funeral service Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Trissels Mennonite Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cowles, Shirley Ann Grunkemeyer, 68, of Harrisonburg, VA died November 28, 2017 at the same place from cancer. She was born October 7, 1949 at Cinninnati, OH to Harold and Mary Jane Grunkemeyer. On June 1, 1974 at Cinncinnati, OH she was married to Spencer L. Cowles, who survives.
Surviving are children, Sarah Ann Cowles, Harisonburg, VA; William Walker Cowles II, New York City, NY; and Elizabeth Cowles, New York City, NY; and a brother, Joe Grunkemeyer, NC.
A brother, Michael Grunkemeyer, preceded her in death.
Graduated from the University of Cincinnati 1971, with a degree in early childhood education. She volunteered at EMHS and 10,000 Villages. She later worked at Warfel's Sweet Shoppe.
Memorial services were held December 2, 2017 at Parkview Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg with burial in Weavers Mennonite Church Cemetery, Harrisonburg, VA.

April 11, 1937 - Jan. 28, 2017
TOPEKA - Mahlon Cross Jr., 79, of Topeka, died at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at his residence.
He was born on April 11, 1937, in Elkhart County to Mahlon and Edna (Bontrager) Cross.
On March 5, 1959, in Topeka he married LouElla Miller and she survives.
Mahlon Jr. was a farmer and had worked for 13 years at S&H Metal in Topeka. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, and all day Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the family’s residence, 6170 S. 600 West, Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Howard Bontrager’s residence, 6260 W. 600 South, Topeka. Services will be conducted by Bishop Ernest E. Bontrager and the home ministers.
Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.

Cross, Michael L., 65, Elkhart, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 12, 1951 in LaGrange to Melvin and Marie (Steury) Cross. On Sep. 16, 1978 he married Mary Ann (Lienhart) Cross.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Cross, Elkhart, sister, Patricia (Jeryl) Hochstedler, Goshen, brother-in-law, John (Wendy) Lienhart, Indianapolis, nephew, Adam (Jen) Hochstedler, Greencastle, and a niece, Danae (Justin) Bell, Goshen. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Cross.
Michael retired from Aggregate Industries and was most recently a substitute teacher at Concord High School. He attended Holdeman Mennonite Church. He was a member of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair Board and was a goat leader for 25 years. He graduated from Purdue Technical School in South Bend. Mike always loved teaching people, especially youth who all loved him back. He enjoyed high school basketball, the Wagon Wheel Theater, bird hunting, fishing, and livestock shows. The family would like to thank the Concord Township Fire Department, the Sheriff’s Department, and the neighbors for their help Tuesday night and all that will help with Mike’s Celebration of Life.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 and one hour prior to the 3 p.m. service Sunday, April 30, 2017 all at the Board Office at the Elkhart County Fair Grounds, enter through Gate 2, 17746 CR 34, Goshen. Dagostino, Vito Joseph, 87, of Harrisonburg, VA died September 30, 2017 at the same place. He was born September 21, 1930 at Brooklyn, NY to Fortunato and Agatha Dagostino. On March 29, 1963 he was married to Carmen Rolon, who was born November 27, 1938 and died May 22, 2014.
Surviving are children, Rick Aponte; Lillian Nieves; Nancy Aponte; and Cynthia Fracchiolla; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Denlinger, Dorothy M. Brubaker, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late John and Rhoda Mumma Brubaker. She was the wife of the late Raymond C. Denlinger who died in 2007. A homemaker, Dorothy attended Jerusalem Church, Penryn and was active with the bible studies at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Her interests included, cooking, flower gardening, word puzzles, bird watching, and listening to music, especially hymns.
Surviving are three children, Robert husband of Bonnie (Brinser) Denlinger of Mount Joy, Lamar husband of Joan (Girvin) Denlinger of Lancaster, and Barbara wife of Karl Miller of Lancaster, four granddaughters, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Benjamin, Richard, Lester, and Robert Brubaker.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Hoffer Auditorium, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Deputy, Hazel Suter, 96, of Harrisonburg, passed away May 1, 2017, at Crestwood of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. Mrs. Deputy was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Harrisonburg and was a daughter of the late Homer and Orpha Blosser Suter.
She was a homemaker and a member of Weavers Mennonite Church.
On Oct. 1, 1941, she married Charles Deputy Sr., who preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Eshleman and husband, David, of Harrisonburg; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Deputy of Harrisonburg; a sister, Kathryn Heatwole of Harrisonburg; six grandchildren, Alicia Weaver and husband, William, Maria Robinson and husband, Wade, Laurie Benton and husband, William, Miranda Murtaugh and husband, Patrick, Dustin Harrington and wife, Carrie, and Dana Harrington and wife, Nelly; two stepgrandchildren, Malisa Arbogast and husband, Jeff, and Kevin Eshleman and wife, Jill; 14 great-grandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Deputy Jr., an infant son, Harold Deputy, and a brother-in-law, Dewitt Heatwole.

Detweiler, Florence Strong, age 100, passed away April 15, 2017. She was born December 22, 1916 in Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County, PA to Charles and Minnie (Zimmerman) Strong. Her husband was LeRoy Detweiler he died in 1992. She served the Slate Hill Mennonite Church family for nearly 80 years . Most of her church positions were in Children's Ministry as Superintendent, Sunday School and Summer Bible School teacher, storyteller and club leader. She was a graduate of Messiah Academy, Grantham, PA and Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, VA. She also attended Eastern Mennonite University.
Surivied by her daughters, Ruth D. Lesher (Emerson), and Pamela Miklaucic (Rick), and the proud grandmother of Benjamin Lesher (Rachel), and Katherine Lesher (Paul). She is a great grandmother to Ava Lesher. And, Aunt Florence was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Detweiler, and her sisters and brothers: Bishop William Strong (Emma); Grace Fetrow (Paul); Samuel Strong (Pauline) and Ruth Anna Strong Royer. .
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, April 20, 2017 at Slate Hill Mennonite Church Camp Hill, PA . Burial will be in the Slate Hill Cemetery.
Detweiler, R. Glen, 74, of Silverdale, PA died March 4, 2017 at Grand View Hospital. He was born October 9, 1942 at Sellersville, PA to Roland M. and Margaret "Peg" (Landes) Detweiler. On October 3, 1964 he was married to Diane R. Derstine, who was born September 14, 1946 and survives.
Surviving are children, Steve and Lori Detweiler, and Geoff and Sheryl Moyer, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held March 9, 2017 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, Blooming Glen, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Detwiler, Jay Henry, 84, of Telford, PA died July 22, 2017. He was born September 10, 1932 to Henry and Eva (Landis) Detwiler. On February 14, 1954 he was married to Ruth Eileen Grasse, who survives.
Surviving are children, Cindy and Mark Jackowski and Steven and Cindy Detwiler; one grandchild, and siblings, Jane and David Huegel and Gladys and David Longacre.
Brothers and sisters, Elizabeth, Ralph, Harold, Jim, Murray and Lena (Craig) preceded him in death.

Jay Henry Detwiler
September 10, 1932 - July 22, 2017
Jay Henry Detwiler, age 84, of Telford, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Grand View Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Eileen (Grasse) Detwiler, with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. Born September 10, 1932, he was a son of the late Henry and Eva (Landis) Detwiler.
Jay was a long-time member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. He was employed as an automotive and diesel mechanic at Farm Bureau Garage for nearly 50 years. He was quite popular over generations of customers and was often greeted warmly when spotted out and about with Ruth at their favorite restaurants.
Jay came from a farming family and when the opportunity arose, he bought the old family farm in Franconia where he was raised. He continued the tradition and as a hobby raised various kinds of livestock including sheep, chickens, and ducks. He loved tending the flower beds throughout the farm. Jay also enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with friends and family as well as traveling throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and Canada.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by his children Cindy Jackowski and her husband, Mark; Steven Detwiler and his wife, Cindy; granddaughter Grace Brockman and her husband, Sam; sisters Jane Huegel and her husband, David; and Gladys Longacre and her husband, David. He was preceded in death by siblings, Elizabeth, Ralph, Harold, Jim, Murray and Lena (Craig).
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 26 at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, PA 18911.
The family will receive guests in the Fellowship Hall immediately after the memorial service. Memorial contributions in Jay’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.

Esther Lorraine Diller, 57, passed away at Hershey Medical Center on Friday morning March 3, 2017. Born December 2, 1959 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Isabel (Diller) Martin.
She was a member of the Millers Mennonite Church near Leitersburg, MD.

Driver, Brownie Marie, 88, of Harrisonburg, passed away Jan. 9, 2017, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Miss Driver was born March 9, 1928, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Rhodes Homer and Anna May (Weaver) Driver. She lived her entire life in a five-mile radius of Harrisonburg. For the past 24 years, she was a part of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
Brownie worked for 38 years with the Rockingham Radiologists Group. In her retirement, she and her sister, Gladys, traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She was an active member of Weavers Mennonite Church and the Mennonite Women’s Sewing Circle. She and Gladys enjoyed quilting and contributed numerous quilts to the Virginia Mennonite Relief Sale.
Miss Driver is survived by her sister, Gladys Ann Driver; a nephew; and a number of nieces. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Driver; two sisters, Reba D. Heatwole and Edith D. Branner; a nephew, Bruce W. Driver; and a niece, Nancy D. Kisamore.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Weavers Cemetery with Pastor Phil Kanagy officiating. There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday until 7 p.m.

Driver, Gladys Anna, 95, of Harrisonburg, passed away June 25, 2017, at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. She was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late Rhodes Homer Driver and Anna May Weaver Driver.
She lived her entire life within a five-mile radius of Harrisonburg, Va. For the past 25 years, she was a part of the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
Ms. Driver retired as an administrative assistant in the academic field at James Madison University. During her lifetime, she traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She was an active member of Weavers Mennonite Church and the Mennonite Women’s Sewing Circle. She was an artist, an avid seamstress and quilter and donated many articles of her handiwork for world-wide relief.
Surviving are nieces, Phyllis Martin, Janeth Duncan, Judith Bontrager, Rosalie Moyer, Alvina Roth and Joanna Branner; a nephew, Robert Driver; a number of great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Driver; three sisters, Reba D. Heatwole, Edith D. Branner and Brownie M. Driver; a nephew, Bruce W. Driver, and a niece, Nancy D. Kisamore.
Pastor Phil Kanagy will conduct a graveside service Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Weavers Cemetery.
There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call at McMullen Funeral Home, Harrisonburg, at any time Tuesday until 7 p.m.
Dyck, Gordon Ralph, 84, of Newton, Harvey Co., KS died November 2, 2017 at Estes Park, Colorado from ALS. He was born January 25, 1933 at Newton, KS to Walter H. and Agnes (Schmidt) Dyck (died 1949). In 1971 he was married to Judith Beechy, who survives.
Surviving are children, Teresa (Ken) Mauzy of Goshen; and Jeffery (Lara Troyer) Dyck; two grandchildren, sister Evelyn (John) Bertsche of Normal, Illinois; brother Gerald (Helga) Dyck of Assonet, Massachusetts; stepsister Delores Suderman (Marvin) Bartel of Goshen; and stepsister-in-law Elvera Suderman of Newton, Kansas.
A son, Randall Thomas Dyck, preceded him in death.
Gordon enjoyed a 30 year career at the Oaklawn Psychiatric Center where he filled many roles including Activity Therapist in the Adult Day Treatment Program, founder and Director of the Adolescent Day Treatment program, Pastoral Counselor/Therapist, and finally Case Manager for adults in need of long-term care and support. While working at Oaklawn he completed a Master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Michigan State University. He retired from Oaklawn in June, 1999.
Gordon found many ways to enjoy life. His love of music was expressed by playing the cello in college, singing bass in numerous choirs throughout his life and enjoying sacred and classical music concerts, especially the Chicago Symphony. He was always up for card games, interactive group sharing, outdoor games and playing pool with family, friends and colleagues. Those who knew Gordon were well aware of his appreciation for dogs and likely knew many of the family’s five Golden Retrievers. He was a talented knitter and created some amazing sweaters for himself and others. Gordon loved traveling both domestically and worldwide, and camping with family and friends, particularly in Colorado, was a favorite vacation. His love of the majestic mountains and beautiful Colorado skies led to the purchase of a condo in Estes Park in 2005 where Gordon and Judy spent 3 to 4 months a year until moving here permanently. But it was his personal relationships with family, friends, colleagues, his men’s coffee groups, caregivers, church and community members that brought real joy to Gordon’s life.
Beyond his professional life Gordon was a community builder, responding to needs within the church and local community. Over the years he served as Overseer/Pastoral Consultant for a number of Mennonite churches, as well as filling several interim minister positions. He also volunteered with many nonprofit community and church related organizations, serving on boards and committees. As the end of his life approached he continued to reach out with interest and compassion to both visitors and staff at the Living Center to focus on their needs and concerns.
Memorial services were held November 18, 2017 at Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies, Estes Park, CO. A memorial will be held at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN in Jan 2018.
Eash, Kyle Wayne

Kyle Wayne Eash, age 4, of Ligonier, IN passed away unexpectedly as the result of a buggy accident. He was born on August 20, 2012 in Ligonier, IN, the son of Clayton M. & Mary Sue (Bontrager) Eash. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his parents; four siblings, Ruth Elaine Eash, Nora Diane Eash, Dale Lynn Eash, and DeAnn Ranae Eash all at home; grandparents, Mervin and Carolyn Eash of Topeka, IN, Orla and Sadie Bontrager of Rome City, IN; great grandparents, Vern and Wilma Fry of Topeka, IN, and Ida Lambright of Topeka, IN. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Family and friends will be received at the family residence, 9588 N 275 W; Ligonier, IN 46767 after 1PM on Sunday May 14, 2017 and all day May 15, 2017.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 beginning at 9:30 AM at the family residence. Bishop Freeman Bontrager and the home ministers will officiate. Burial will follow at Clearspring cemetery in Topeka, IN. Pall bearers are Steven Bontrager, Marlin Bontrager, Lonnie Bontrager, and Larry Eash.
Eberly, Daniel G., 65, of Tampa, FL, born May 2, 1952 in Lancaster, entered into rest May 10, 2017, with sudden heart failure. He was the son of the late Henry H. Eberly and Ruth G. Rohrer Eberly.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pastor Pat Martin Eberly and three children, Benjamin Daniel Eberly (Nikki) of Broken Arrow, OK, Katrina Joy Hildebrand (Jason) of Lancaster, and Adriel Joseph Eberly of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Fresita Eberly, Sariah, Aiden, and Taylor Hildebrand. Surviving siblings, James Leroy Eberly, Mary Ella Howe, Susie Bracey, Elsie Eberly, Henry Eberly, Lois Stoltzfus. Proceeded in death are one sister, Miriam (Daniel Nissley) and one brother, Naaman (Anne Stoltzfus Eberly Miller).
Dan was a graduate of Elim Bible Institute and College, NY, Lancaster Mennonite HS, and attended Weavertown Mennonite and Conestoga Christian Schools.

Eberly, Luke M., 87, of Ephrata, formerly of Stevens, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born on January 15, 1930 in East Earl Twp. to the late Martin M. and Minnie (Martin) Eberly. He was the husband of the late Elva M. (Zimmerman) Eberly who died October 6, 2016.
He was a member of Springville Mennonite Church, Ephrata.
Luke was a farmer and also worked at New Holland Sales Stables and was a cattle buyer.
Luke is survived by 4 children, Carolyn, wife of Isaac Hurst of Akron, Homer, husband of Etta (Martin) Eberly of Ephrata, Merle, husband of Sharon (Martin) Eberly of Narvon, Stephen Eberly of Ephrata; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Martin Jr., husband of Anna (Martin) Eberly, Paul, husband of Esther Mae (Hoover) Eberly, Willis, husband of Myrna (Martin) Eberly, John, husband of Abby (Rhoads) Eberly; 2 sisters, Elizabeth, wife of John Elam Zimmerman, sister, Edna, wife of Allen Brubacher; a brother-in-law, Irvin Weaver and a sister-in-law, Hilda Eberly.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Eberly and 3 sisters, Anna Eberly, Eva Kurtz, Esther Weaver.

Ebersole, Arlene Lichty
Arlene Lichty Ebersole has died on September 9, 2017 peacefully at the age of 99. Born and raised in Paradise, Pennsylvania, Arlene was a long-time resident of Mennonite Communities’ Woodcrest Villa and Mennonite Home in Lancaster.
The daughter of Abram Lichty and Hazel Troop Lichty, Arlene was one of four children raised on a dairy farm in Paradise; her siblings included Charles Lichty, Warren Lichty, and Jeanette Lichty Newcomer, all deceased.
A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Arlene was married to Henry Longenecker Ebersole for 61 years, until the latter’s death in 2000. For more than 20 years Arlene worked in the Paradise Elementary School cafeteria, rising to the level of assistant manager. This was a job that allowed her to be at home when her two children returned daily from school. When younger, Arlene was an enthusiastic gardener; throughout her life, she was an avid gamer, and she was a particularly expert practitioner of pinochle, which she loved to play with family and friends.
A 1936 graduate of Paradise High School, Arlene was a parishioner for more than 85 years of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Paradise, through which she participated in numerous volunteer activities. Arlene was also a member of “Farm Women No. 7,” a now disbanded social services organization.
Arlene is survived by her two sons, Charles Henry Ebersole, of Bluffton, SC, Robert Bruce Ebersole, of Williamsburg, VA, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Among her grandchildren, “Grammy” will always be remembered for her legendary coffee crumb cake and cinnamon swirl bread!
In keeping with Arlene’s wishes, a graveside service celebrating Arlene’s life will be a private family affair; she will be interred at the Mennonite Cemetery in Paradise. Ebersole, Lila Pearl Good, 105, of Sterling, Whiteside Co., IL died November 12, 2017 at the same place. She was born November 17, 1911 at Sterling, IL to A.C. and Mamie (Landis) Good. On October 8, 1938 at Sterling she was married to Glenn Ellsworth Ebersole, who was born September 19, 1910 and died June 30, 1986.
Surviving are children, Gary (Nancy) Ebersole and Doug (Harriet) Berg; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Rita Berg and a sister, Mabel Springer preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held November 17, 2017 at Science Ridge Mennonite Church, Sterling, IL with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Eby, Anna M. Eckman, 74, a resident of Landis Homes, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 24, 2017.
She was married 54 years to J. Wilmer Eby. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of A. Margaret Hershey Eckman of Lancaster, and the late George H. Eckman.
Anna was a graduate of Pequea Valley High School and a homemaker most of her life. She had enjoyed the nine years she spent working at Brereton Manor in Washington Boro. Anna was a member of Living Light Mennonite Church and spent many hours supporting her husband in his pastoral work there. One of her gifts was the gift of hospitality, and she enjoyed welcoming, and serving meals to many people in her home over the years. She loved the Lord and met people with open arms and a loving heart. She was also gifted in caring for and understanding people's needs. Anna enjoyed the Anabaptist Tour to Europe & the trip to Alaska to visit her brother, Paul. She had spent time serving on the Committee for Aging with the Lancaster Mennonite Conference. When not busy with other activities, Anna enjoyed games and puzzles.
Surviving besides her husband and mother is a daughter, Mary Beth wife of Carl Ranck of Lancaster; three sons, Steven R. husband of Joyce Colligan Eby of Braintree, MA, Philip R. husband of Diane Bollinger Eby of Holtwood, and Andrew L. husband of LaRee Miller Eby of Portland, OR; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, George H. II, husband of Elaine Dillman Eckman of Smoketown, John husband of Kathy Stoehr Eckman of Ephrata, and Paul husband of Elsie Karmun Eckman of Fairbanks, AK; and two sisters, Helen wife of Loren Zimmerman of Hummelstown, and Elaine wife of Kevin Stoltzfus of Leola.
The family would like to thank the staff of Landis Homes for the wonderful care she received since she came to Landis Homes and most recently from Hospice and Community Care in the last days of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 5, at 3:00 P.M. at The West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA. A Viewing will be held at West Bethany Chapel on Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. There will be no viewing on Sunday, however, friends may greet the family following the service. Ray Leroy Eby, 74, of Flintstone, Md., died Monday, March 27, 2017, when he was struck by a tree at a land-clearing project.
He was born Sept. 7, 1942, to the late David and Edna Eby at Chambersburg, Pa.
Ray was a member of Flintstone Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, Janet M. (Hostetter) Eby. They were the former owners of Alpine Pantry in Flintstone.
Also surviving are daughters, Melanie Showalter and husband, Jonathan, Mendon, Mich.; Emily Eby, Meadville, Pa.; Bethany Rohrer and husband, Nathan, Mercersburg, Pa.; and Charity Eby, London, Ky.; sons, Leslie Eby, Flintstone, and Ernest Eby and wife, Cathy, State College, Pa.; Truman Eby, Mifflintown, Pa.; and 18 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn son.
Funeral services were Friday March 30, 2017 at Flintstone Mennonite Church.
Eicher, Grace P. Stamm, 91, of Pettisville, Fulton Co., OH died January 24, 2017 at the same place. She was born February 27, 1925 at Archbold,Fulton Co.,OH to Gustav and Priscilla (Stuckey) Stamm. On November 16, 1947 she was married to James Eicher, who died May 3, 1999.
Surviving are children, Jeanette (Vernon) Rice, Joyce Bedsworth Hoffman, Jane (Geoff) Rinard, Pete Eicher, Dave (Sue) Eicher, and Curt (Elaine) Eicher; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Duane (Betty) Stamm, Geneva (Luther) Shetler, and Zelma Kauffman.
A son-in-law, Phillip Bedsworth and siblings, Paul, Harold, Denver Stamm; Beulah Stockburger, Irma Short, and Wilma Roth preceded her in death.
A resident of the Pettisville area 70 years, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed hosting exchange students, cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, traveling, spending winters in Florida, but most of all spending time with her family. She was an active member of Central Mennonite Church near Archbold and the former Pettisville Garden Club.
Memorial services were held January 29, 2017 at Central Mennonite Church, Archbold, OH with burial in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, OH.

Engle, Naomi Ruth Epp, 51, died January 1, 2017 at Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH from brain cancer. She was born December 8, 1965 at Freeman, SD to Willard and Elsie (Wiebe) Epp. She was married to Jesse Robert Engle, who was born October 23, 1966 and survives.
Surviving are her father; children, Anna Engle, Grace (Benjamen) Delp, and Marie Engle; two grandchildren; brothers, Donald, Stan and Bryan; and sisters, Roselyn Parks and Rachel Winters.
Her mother preceded him/her in death.
Graduate of Oral Roberts University with a Bachelor's Degree in Art; Graduate of Eastern Mennonite Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian counseling; served with her husband, Jess, as pastors at Aurora Mennonite Church, Aurora, OH for 7 years, then served as co-pastors at West Clinton Mennonite Church, Wauseon, OH from 2009 - present. Naomi also served on the Ohio Conference Credentialing Ministry for many years and in that role also served on the Ohio Conference Leadership Team.

Epp, Walter Bernard, 95, of Marion, SD died December 1, 2017 at Freeman, SD. He was born February 20, 1922 at Dolton, SD to Bernard and Margaret (Jantzen) Epp.
On March 21, 1971 at Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada he was married to Catherine Epp, who died March 12, 1999. First marriage was to Emma Lorraine Fliginger. They were married on June 5, 1943 in Brady, Texas. Emma died on June 7, 1968.
Surviving are children, Betty Muenchow, Arlen Epp (Carol), Karen Kingsley (Karl), Diana Graber (Tom), Norman Epp (Nadine Abrahams), Margaret Hiebner (Arlin), David Epp (Sonja), Charlene Epp (Duncan Smith), John Epp (Beth), Raymon Epp (Pam), 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.
A grandchild, Neil David Epp preceded him in death.

Esh, David S.
David S. "Humpy" Esh, 69, of Narvon passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Bart, PA, he was the son of the late Levi F. and Annie Smucker Esh. He was the husband of Arlene Showalter "Beanie" Esh.
He attended Oasis Christian Fellowship. He was the owner and operator of the former D&E Construction and Beanie's of Lancaster.
He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife and their four children, Bethany (Edwin) Strubhar of Ephrata, Claudia Esh, Josiah Esh, and Caleb Esh, all at home; two grandchildren, Zachary and Sophia Strubhar; a brother, Daniel Esh; and four sisters, Katie (Emanuel) Fisher, Sallie Flaud, Anna Mary (Chris) Lapp, Lydia (Amos) Stoltzfus. He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Stephen, Amos, Jonathan, Emanuel, Levi, Aaron, and John.

Eshleman, Lois Catherine Martin Diller, age 95, of Sherwood Dr., Greencastle, PA died on Saturday morning March 25, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Lois was born on April 28, 1921 in Waynesboro, PA and was the daughter of the late Albert and Fannie (Shank) Diller of Greencastle. She was married to Henry Eshleman for 20 years at the time of her death. She was previously married to Russell Martin for almost 50 years. They had seven children, Delbert of Sharpsburg, MD, Linford of Baxter, KY, Carolyn Mellinger of Lancaster, PA, Roger of Greencastle, PA, Wilma Martin of Greencastle, PA and Lowell of Hagerstown, MD, twelve grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She has three living siblings, Aden Diller of Chambersburg, PA, Leon Diller of Montana, and Anna Krouse of Greencastle, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Martin, a son Olen Martin, and siblings Daniel Diller, Glen Diller, and Ethel Petersheim.
Lois was a dedicated Christian who lived her life teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and was active with the Salem Ridge Sewing Circle. She was quick to help family and friends in many practical ways. With her husbands she volunteered in the community at Bible Release Time for 25+ years both in Hancock, MD and Greencastle PA. She also volunteered at World Treasures, a mission thrift shop in Hagerstown MD. She and Russell sang in the Kings Troubadours, a mixed sacred chorus for about 15 years. Lois was the last of the charter members of Salem Ridge Mennonite Church which began in 1955 and continued her membership there since then. For many years, she was also part of a team who served at Bethel, a mission church in Warfordsburg, PA. She will be dearly missed.
All services will be held at Salem Ridge Community Church, 441 Pensinger Rd., Greencastle, PA. Viewing will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the church on Saturday, April 1. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 2 at 3:00 pm with visitation from 2:00 -3:00 pm. There will be a private burial in the adjoining church cemetery on Sunday at 1:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Pastors Brian Emery and Joe Martin. The family would like to thank Hospice, Blue Mountain Home Care, Menno Haven, Janet Steele, family members, and friends for making her last days comfortable and peaceful.

WAKARUSA - Wayne E. Fink, 91, of Wakarusa, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
He was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Elkhart County, to Irvin and Maude (Culp) Fink.
Wayne is survived by six sisters, Miriam Klopfenstein, Marjorie Freed, Doris Fink, Beatrice (Don) Yoder, Wanda (John) Nicholas, Sherrill (Glenn) Yoder and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lowell and Glenn Fink.
He worked at Dexter Axel and was also a farmer.
Wayne was a member of Olive Mennonite Church, Elkhart.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, with a service following at 11 a.m., all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa.
Burial will take place in Olive (West) Cemetery.

LaMar was born on Oct. 16, 1926, in Elkhart to Leland P. and Marjorie (Syson) Fletcher.
LaMar is survived by his wife, Donnabelle (Goodman) Fletcher; daughter, Gloria Davis, Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; half-sister, Heloise Almasri, Elkhart; half-brothers, Ronald, Reggie, Tom (Patty) and Bill Fletcher, all of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Coffing; sisters, Juanita McFall and Patricia Pixley, and brothers, Le Von E. Fletcher and Charles F. Fletcher.
LaMar served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was employed as a Plumber and pipefitter at Miles Laboratories for 43 years, before retiring in 1988.
LaMar was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church.

Flickinger, Sidonnia Ann Nickel, 94, of Glendale, AZ died August 16, 2017 at the same place after suffering a stroke. She was born January 16, 1923 at Mt. Lake, MN to Abraham Theodore and Marie (Heppner) Nickel. On August 30, 1953 she was married to Calvin Howard Flickinger, at Mt. Lake, MN. He survives.
Surviving are children, Ron Flickinger and Colleen Flickinger Kliewer; Dan Flickinger; John Flickinger and Douglas Basinger; Susan Flickinger and Doris Bartel; and Lois Flickinger; and one
grandchild.
A granddaughter, Teresa Kliewer Flickinger, and three brothers, Leander Nickel, Marvin Nickel, and Arnold Nickel preceded her in death.

Fox, Alama Zimmerman, 78, of 155 Stone Quarry Road, Leola, died peacefully, on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
She was the wife of Weaver L. Fox. They observed their 55th anniversary on November 23, 2016.
Born on January 16, 1939, in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late John Harry and Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Zimmerman.
A homemaker, she was a member of Conestoga Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
In addition to her husband, Alama is survived by 2 daughters, Ruth Z., wife of Eli M. Zimmerman of Rochester, IN, Naomi Z., wife of Ivan S. Newswenger of Morgantown; 6 sons, Aaron Z., husband of Barbara (Nolt) Fox of Shippensburg, John Z., husband of Anna (Zimmerman) Fox of Rochester, IN, David Z., husband of Annetta (Martin) Fox of Stanley, NY, James Z., husband of Anna (Zimmerman) Fox of Rushville, NY, Elvin Z., husband of Almeda (Martin) Fox of Leola, Amos Z. Fox, at home; 51 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Fox, Eugene H., 73, of Martindale, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. His wife, Violet F. (Styer) Fox, survives.
Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Clarence and Sally (Horning) Fox.
Eugene was the co-owner of The Furniture House for many years.
He had attended the former Bethany E. C. Church. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Echo Valley Hunting Club in Lycoming County. In his younger years, he was well-known for his involvement with fast pitch softball in the area. He had also enjoyed golfing with friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Brian married to Karen Fox, Leola; Travis married to Lisa Fox, Leola; Stacy E. married to Wendy Fox, New Holland; Tracy married to Robert Hostetter, Denver; Derrick married to Sonya Fox, Martindale; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Willis Fox, Erma Garman, and Marlin Fox.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Fox, and a sister, Grace Burkholder.
A service for family and close friends will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor David Sensenig officiating. Fox, Harold G., 84, of Ephrata, formerly of East Earl, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Lincoln Christian Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena (Brubaker) Fox, in 2010.
Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Good) Fox.
Harold was a truck driver, most recently at Martin Paving. During his last five years, he enjoyed his second family at Lincoln Christian Home and playing marbles.
He was a faithful member of Martindale Mennonite Church where he formerly served as a Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are four children: Kay L. married to Timothy Weaver, East Earl; Sherry L. married to Kenneth Weaver, Ephrata; Terry L. married to Paula (Martin) Fox, Mohnton; Randy L. married to Arlene (Martin) Fox, Denver; 21 grandchildren: 22 great-grandchildren; four siblings: Marvin married to Ruth (Kulp) Fox, Ephrata; Marian married to John Herr, Lititz; Lucy married to Stuart Keeny, York; Lillian married to James Zimmerman, Mt. Joy.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Kenneth L. and Gary L. Fox, and a sister and two brothers.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Rd., Ephrata. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Frey, Harold Reitz, age 95, died on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Landis Homes where he resided since 2004. He is the husband of Ruth W. Snavely Frey. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on November 30, 2016. Harold was born in Franklin County, July 29, 1921, son of the late Christian E. Frey and Emma Reitz Frey Martin.
Harold was a life long farmer and learner. He loved the land, singing hymns and studying the Scripture. He and his wife Ruth, started Frey’s Farm Market in Lebanon County, selling fresh-grown produce. It later expanded to include greenhouse plants. His farming years also involved raising poultry and livestock.
Harold served as a deacon at Gingrichs Mennonite Church for 35 years, a Philhaven Hospital board member for 32 years and a Friendship board member for several years. He was a member of Lititz Mennonite Church.
In addition to his wife, Harold is survived by six children: daughter, Linda Frey and husband David of New Holland; daughter, Donna Frey Myers and husband Gerald of Fort Mill, SC; son, Leslie Frey and wife Gloria Hess Frey of Lebanon; son, Dennis Frey and wife Becky Hernley Frey of Lebanon; daughter, Anita Frey of East Petersburg; and daughter, Twila Frey Glick and husband Del Glick of Washington, DC. Also surviving is one sister, Jean Frey Weaver of Lebanon; step-sister, Ruth Hershey of Kennett Square, plus 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Harold was predeceased by a son, Curtis Frey, sisters, Verna Frey Bauman, Gail Kling Weaver, Elta Frey Weaver; brother, James Frey and step-sister Esther Hoover.
Visitation will be held at Landis Homes in the West Community Room on Saturday evening, April 8 from 6:00 - 8:00PM. The Memorial service will be held at Landis Homes on Sunday, April 9 at 3:00 PM in the West Bethany Chapel.There will be a private burial at Gingrichs Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Frey, Richard E., 83, of Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH died July 11, 2017 at the same place. He was born April 3, 1934 at Wauseon, OH to Simon and Verna (Beck) Frey. On June 4, 1955 at Continental, Putnam Co., OH he was married to Ellen Jane Prowant, who survives.
Surviving are children, Richard, Jr. (Angela), Fred (Elaine), and Mary Jane; and six grandchildren.
Two sons, Jack (Carol, still living), and Wendell (infant); and a sister, Carol preceded him in death.
He was in 1-W service in the Cleveland area, worked as a mechanic and salesman at Liechty Farm Equipment, retired in 1999, also farmed and raised feeder pigs. Sang in a gospel quartet for many years.

TOPEKA - Richard J. Frey, 66, of Topeka, died Tuesday, April 18.
He was born Sept. 8, 1950, to Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Bontrager) Frey. He married Barbara Miller, she survives.
Survivors also are daughters LaVera Fry and Loranna Lehman; sons Dale, LaVern, Richard Jr., Gerald and Delma Frey; 29 grandchildren; sisters Lydia Mae Miller, Mary Ellen Miller, Edna Schlabach, Wilma Bontrager and Katie Lehman; brother Freeman Frey; sisters-in-law Lydia Frey and LeEtta Frey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Elizabeth Fry; two brothers; and a brother-in-law.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 and all day Thursday, April 20 at the family residence, 515 W. Lake St., Topeka. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, the Daniel Mishler residence, 7380 West 650 South, Topeka. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is handling the arrangements.
Frey, Ruth W. Snavely, 93, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Landis Homes where she resided since 2004. She was the wife of Harold R. Frey (April 3, 2017). Ruth was born in Lancaster County, November 15, 1923, daughter of the late Benjamin Snavely and Mabel Witmer Snavely.
Ruth and her husband Harold, started Frey's Farm Market in Lebanon County, a family business which sold fresh-grown produce. Ruth managed the market in its early years which later expanded to include greenhouse plants. She enjoyed raising and selling bedding plants and creating floral planters. Ruth was a faithful member of Gingrichs Mennonite Church. In her role of deacon's wife she frequently extended hospitality to others. Ruth enjoyed volunteering at Jubilee Ministries and Sewing Circle in Lebanon County. Her volunteering spirit continued in numerous capacities at Landis Homes.
Ruth loved recording family genealogy in Creative Memory Books and was a significant contributor to the 275 year history of Gingrichs Mennonite Church and Cemetery. More recently she was a member of Lititz Mennonite Church.
She is survived by six children, daughter, Linda Frey and husband, David of New Holland, daughter, Donna Frey Myers and husband, Gerald of Fort Mill, SC, son, Leslie Frey and wife, Gloria Hess Frey of Lebanon, son, Dennis Frey and wife, Becky Hernley Frey of Lebanon, daughter, Anita Frey of East Petersburg, and daughter, Twila Frey Glick and husband, Del of Washington, DC. Also surviving are three sisters, Helen Snavely of York, Miriam Longenecker of Landis Homes, Lois Snavely Frey Gray of Kennett Square; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Harold Frey; son, Curtis Frey; and sister, Irene Snavely Ramos.
A visitation will be held in the West Community Room at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, on Friday evening, April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Landis Homes on Saturday, April 22, at 3 p.m. in the West Bethany Chapel. Frey, Samuel Warren, 60, of Pettisville, Fulton Co., OH died August 14, 2017 at Leola, Lancaster Co., PA from pancreatic cancer. He was born August 30, 1956 at Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH to Warren and Clara (Stuckey) Frey. On August 13, 1977 he was married to Deborah Kesler, who survives.
Surviving are children, Nathan (Chanell), Nicholas (Julie), and Jason; three grandchildren, and siblings, Jerry (Jill), Kathy (Gordon) Poindexter, Shirley (Lonnie) Rychener, MaraBelle (Douglas) Schmucker, and Allen (Amy).
Samuel began his career working for his father at Frey Construction. He then moved to Pennsylvania and worked for AB Martin Roofing, Ephrata, PA. Had a passion for woodworking, watching sports, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Frey, Valetta J. Nofziger, 88, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died October 2, 2017 at the same place from cancer. She was born January 12, 1929 at Archbold to Harley and Fannie (Aeschliman) Nofziger. On February 2, 1997 she was married to Willard Frey, who died January 21, 2014.
Valetta was married to Edwin Beck, January 2, 1949. He preceded her in death December 29, 1995.
Surviving are children, J. Mark (Karen) Beck; Jane (Ed) Waidelich; Samuel (Tracy) Beck; and Sandra Beck. Step-children: Sue Ann (Edward) Overholt; Mary Jo Wilson; Peggy (Chris) Arndt; and Lee Frey; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Evelyn Nafziger.
A son, Jerry Beck, a brother, Loyal Nofziger and two sisters, Lois Aeschliman and Lorene Eash, preceded her in death.

MILFORD - Velma E. Frey, 76, of Milford, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017.
She had fought cancer for five years.
She was born Nov. 11, 1940, to Joseph and Ruby (Hochstetler) Stutzman.
She is survived by her husband, John Henry Frey; children Owen and Eugene Frey, Rhonda (Delton) Weaver and Brenda Frey; grandchildren Jolene Fowler, Kevin Weaver, Derek (Lonita) Weaver, Jared Weaver and Nadine Weaver; five great-grandchildren; sister Verda (Ward) Burkholder; and brothers Delbert (Frances), Lamar (Rhonda) and Owen (Janet) Stutzman.
Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 18 and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, at Pleasant Grove Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20, also at the church.

Friesen, Kathleen Foster Murray, 58, of North Newton, Harvey Co., KS died November 12, 2017 at the same place. She was born July 27, 1959 at Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN to John and Marilyn (Stauffer) Murray. On March 22, 2003 she was married to Jon Friesen, who survives.
Surviving are her parents and a brother, John C. Murray (Krista).

Funk, Amanda Nisly, 95, of Millersburg, died at 1:38 pm, on Sunday, March 5, at her residence.
She was born on November 1, 1921, in Hutchinson, KS, to Noah and Rosa (Schrock) Nisly. On June 15, 1952 in Hutchinson, KS she married Walter Funk; he died November 30, 1996.
Surviving is a son, Harry (Margie) Funk of New Carlisle; two daughters, Marie (Ben) Whirledge and Betty Funk both of Millersburg; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca (Albert) Miller and Ella Nisly both of Partridge, KS; two brothers, Amos (Anne) Nisly of Hutchinson, KS and Moses (Mary) Nisly of Shreve, OH; a sister-in-law, Velma Plank of Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Ruben Funk, grandson, Jason Funk, three brothers, Will, Abraham and Joe Nisly, two sisters, Lydia Yoder and Anna Raber.
Amanda was a member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, of Millersburg. She was a volunteer at the World Missionary Press and a willing participant in numerous church activities. She was a lifelong example of what a Godly Christian woman could be, and also a wonderful, loving and energetic wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday March 7, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street Middlebury.
There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10:30 am funeral service on Wednesday March 8, at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastor David Hathaway.
Burial will be in Clinton Brick Cemetery, Goshen.

MILLERSBURG - Betty Ann Funk, 53, of Millersburg, passed away at 8:53 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the home of her sister.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1963 to Walter and Amanda (Nisly) Funk.
She is survived by a brother, Harry (Margie) Funk of New Carlisle; a sister, Marie (Ben) Whirledge; nieces, nephews, and cousins; aunts and uncles, including her aunt, Ella Nisly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Funk, her mother, Amanda Funk, her brother Ruben Funk and nephew Jason Funk.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 20 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home. There will be one hour of visitation before 11a.m. funeral service on Friday, April 21 at Clinton Brick Mennonite Church. Services will be conducted by Pastor David Hathaway. Funk, Elvin Curtis, 86, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Landis Homes, Lititz. He married Betty Jane Kreider on February 2, 1952 and they celebrated their sixty-fifth Wedding Anniversary this year. In 1994, Curtis and Betty retired from their Manor Twp. farm, later moving to Landis Homes in 2009. Curtis entered long-term care in 2014.
Born April 19, 1931 in Manor Twp., he was the son of the late Christian H. and Mary M. (Brubaker) Funk. Curtis was a life-long member of Habecker Mennonite Church; earlier serving as superintendent and teacher. He and Betty resided in Philadelphia for two years in 1-W Service, where he worked at Byberry Hospital. In 1961, they became the sixth generation to own and operate the Funk Homestead in Manor Twp. since 1758. They shared their home with children via the Fresh Air Program as well as Mennonite-Your-Way guests, and others. They volunteered in numerous capacities. Late in life, Curtis and Betty enjoyed travels to many places including Hawaii, Alaska, Jamaica, Bermuda, and the Canadian Rockies. They entertained family and friends at their cabin in Pine Creek, Lycoming County.
In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by five children; Lois married to James Harnish, of Washington Boro., Janice married to Mark Charles, of Washington Boro., Jo married to Paul Schlitz, Jr., of Baltimore, MD, Janie married to Leon Horst, of Ephrata and Jay Funk married to Pamela (Shearer), of Lancaster; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one sister; M. Elizabeth Funk, of Lancaster.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service to be held at Landis Homes-West Bethany Chapel, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543 on Saturday morning, August 26, 2017 at 11AM.
